Veteran’s War Memorial

Details

The Bristol Veterans Memorial, located on Cumberland Street, is dedicated to the honor and memory of the brave men and women of the United States who fought, and continue to fight, valiantly for the defense of freedom.  This memorial salutes these courageous souls for whom this nation will forever be indebted.

The memorial contains five 6-foot 2-inch bronze statues, representing the men and women of the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines.  They sit atop a granite platform emblazoned with a re “V” for victory and vigilance.  Behind them shining brightly, burns the Eternal Flame of Freedom.

The Memorial Plaza, a 2,000 square foot walkway surrounding these statues is paved with bricks which you may purchase and have engraved with the name of a veteran whom you wish to honor or memorialize.  For $75 you may purchase a standard brick (4″x 8″) which may be engraved with a veteran’s name, rank, branch of service and years served on 3 lines.

The Memorial Walkway is a 100 foot walkway paved with granite stones.  For $275 you may purchase a large granite stone (12″ x 12″) and have engraved the name, rank, branch of service and years served of a friend or loved one who served in the armed forces during any war or at a time of peace.

Whether buying a brick for the Plaza, or purchasing a granite stone for the Memorial Walkway, it’s important to remember that the name will be etched in stone forever.  If you wish to purchase a brick or stone, please call the Parks and Recreation Department at (276)-645-7275
