Bristol Rhythm & Roots Reunion Lineup Reveal

The 21st edition of the Bristol Rhythm & Roots Reunion (BRRR) music festival, which takes place Sept. 9-11 in historic downtown Bristol, will feature the daughter of country music royalty and a popular southern-rock band as two of its top headliners.

Rosanne Cash, the daughter of Johnny Cash and stepdaughter of June Carter Cash, will play in Bristol for the first time, as will JJ Grey & Mofro.

Two-time Grammy-nominated Rosanne Cash’s appearance at BRRR this year is particularly significant as this is the 95th anniversary of the 1927 Bristol Sessions, which Johnny Cash deemed was “the single most important event in the history of country music. June Carter Cash’s family, “The Carters,” were part of that history-making event.

While the festival always celebrates the impact of the Sessions’ recordings, this year’s lineup reflects just how far-reaching and influential the Sessions continue to be across a wide range of music genres.

Other artists who are scheduled to appear at BRRR this year are:

• Jerry Douglas Band
• Briston Maroney
• Donna the Buffalo
• Katie Pruitt
• 49 Winchester
• Ralph Stanley II & The Clinch Mountain Boys
• Dallas Wayne
• John R. Miller
• Bill & the Belles
• The Get Right Band
• Caitlin Krisko & The Broadcast
• Kyshona
• Carson Peters & Iron Mountain
• Kelsey Rae
• Jennifer Knapp
• Jake Blount
• The Honey Dewdrops
• Adeem the Artist
• Casey Noel
• Wound Tight

This year another can’t-miss feature of the festival is a special exhibit at the Birthplace of Country Music Museum that will honor “The Man in Black” – Johnny Cash’s 1968 Folsom Prison Redemption.

The Birthplace of Country Music will release additional BRRR festival artists at the end of each month through April, anticipating approximately 100 acts to gather and share their music and creative energy. Weekend passes are on sale now for $100 until May 1, when the price increases. Artist schedules and single-day tickets will be released later this summer. For tickets and more information, visit
