Bristol Rhythm & Roots Reunion Festival Lineup & Poster Reveal

Bristol Rhythm and Roots Reunion is turning 21 in 2022, and it’s only getting better with age!

The award-winning festival, which celebrates Bristol’s music heritage as the Birthplace of Country Music, showcases Appalachian roots music (and much more) while also honoring the legacy of the 1927 Bristol Sessions and its enormous impact on country music.

Taking place Sept. 9-11 in beautiful Downtown Bristol, Bristol Rhythm & Roots Reunion once again features an all-star lineup headlined by Roseanne Cash, Tanya Tucker, and JJ Grey & Mofro. Having Cash participate in the festival this year, on the 95th anniversary of the Bristol Sessions, is particularly gratifying as her father, the legendary Johnny Cash, called the Sessions “the single most important event in the history of country music.”

One of the country’s pre-eminent singer-songwriters, Cash has released 15 albums that have earned four Grammys and 12 additional nominations. Tucker, a two-time Grammy winner and 14-time nominee, was scheduled to be at BRRR in 2021 but had to cancel due to travel issues.

Dozens of other artists and groups will perform this year, including Asleep at the Wheel, Donna the Buffalo, Fantastic Negrito, 49 Winchester, and the Del McCoury Band. A complete list of the artists who will be performing at BRRR is available on the website.

As always, one of the festival’s biggest stars is Downtown Bristol. Fans spill out onto State Street, the famed road that sits in both Tennessee and Virginia, enjoying the more than 100 acts that perform on more than a dozen indoor and outdoor stages throughout the three-day event. Downtown businesses love getting in on the act, dressing up their storefronts to welcome the thousands of music lovers in attendance.

Many of Bristol’s downtown restaurants and breweries expand their footprint during BRRR, opening outdoor spaces so that patrons can fully enjoy the festival’s infectious atmosphere. And, if you’re looking for BRRR merchandise or other unique items, there are a variety of vendors set up along State Street. Speaking of unique, you can also find some incredible dining options at the many food trucks that are set up along 5th Street.

Tickets are still available for the 21st edition of Bristol Rhythm & Roots Reunion. Both weekend passes and single day passes can currently be purchased online.
